SUNRISE REVIEW EXAMINES COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT LICENSING
November 14, 2011

On November 4, 2011 the Colorado Legislative Action Committee (CLAC) of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) submitted a Sunrise Review Application to the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). The CLAC has asked DORA to investigate the need for licensing Colorado community association managers.

Based upon DORA findings (expected in late January or early February of 2012), CLAC could propose licensing legislation in the 2012 session, or in a subsequent session.

Colorado community association managers are currently not required to be licensed, registered or certified.

According to the CLAC, licensing of community association managers would provide additional consumer protection to homeowners who live in HOAs and would elevate the level of professionalism of association management.

As of November 4th, the CLAC had not made a final decision on whether to proceed with the introduction of manager licensure legislation. CLAC is waiting for DORA's determination on whether licensure is needed.

Save Attorney Fees on Collections
August 31, 2011

Orten Cavanagh Richmond & Holmes offers Collection Services to Associations under 2 programs: 'Shared Risk Collection Services' or 'Fixed Fee Collection Services'

There are no attorney fees on accounts referred under our Shared Risk Collection Services - until and unless we collect.

Under our Fixed Fee Collection Services, the Association is billed as collection services are provided. We collect! Just ask the Association's management agent or accounts receivable staff. One of our attorneys will attend, at no charge, Board meetings of any Association to review our Collection Services.

Shared Risk Collection Services are similar to collection agencies, only better.

We send demand letters; We call the owner and proactively work the files referred; We provide detailed status reports; We offer Shared Risk Collection Services to Associations that engage us under our monthly retainer.

A checklist comparing our collection services to those of collection agencies is posted on our 'Library' page.

If you would like an attorney to review our Shared Risk Collection Services with the Board, contact any one of our attorneys.
